Heisman Trophy an Emotional "Win" for Ingram, Bama/AP

Just when Bama fans didn’t think the season could get any better, it did. The second consecutive undefeated regular season ended—or rather began—with the Tide’s most complete and dominating performance in the SEC Championship Game the week before.

The grudge match against the Florida Gators was no doubt nothing short of circled on our collective calendars since the loss to the eventual national champion the year before. Getting back to Atlanta—and winning—meant a berth in the BCS National Championship Game. Check, check and check.

Refs Couldn’t Be Part of “Conspiracy”

Replay Footage from Bama-LSU Missed Call

Lane Kiffin is giving SEC officials an awful lot of credit. Never were his Smokey-like yelps of a conspiracy among the refs to keep Bama and Florida undefeated into the conference championship louder than after his team’s near-miss upset of the Crimson Tide.

When you play well against the No. 1 team in the country but come up a little short, any fifth-grader (or delusional, self-absorbed adult) worth his salt would make excuses. And the more irrational, the better.

The cries, though quieter, resurfaced during the Alabama-LSU game a few weeks ago. The photo above shows the LSU receiver make a grab, which the officials ruled incomplete. When the zebras (more…)
