How Long Will Georgia Fans Accept Good, Not Great?

Next stop for University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt and/or his defensive coordinator Willie Martinez? Probably anywhere but Athens. With the Bulldogs licking their deep gashing wounds from Saturday, courtesy of the Tennessee Vols (yes, really), the mild-mannered coach in red and black or his struggling defensive pal may soon favor another color combination if the Georgia fans have anything to do with it. And take heart, Dawg fans, you CAN.

Alabama fans will remember the predictable, three-times-up-the-gut Shula-“engineered” offense of 2006 with enough killer instinct to put away a gnat. Sick of watching such a mockery made of the game of football, I turned to Paul Finebaum, the infamous, razor-sharp-tongued sports radio host in Birmingham. In an email plea to the grand bald one, I requested his assistance in bringing down Dave Rader, Shula’s OC, who just happened to have been the OC when Shula was the QB. Les Miles' Unquestionable Luck Hasn't Dropped the Ball Yet This Season

After last week’s near miss against Mississippi State, I know that LSU head coach (use)Les Miles is the luckiest man in college football. There is no way LSU should have won that game, or earned the subsequent No. 4 ranking. But next to Miles, Georgia head coach Mark Richt is just as fortunate – this even according to Dawg fans. So who will come out ahead in this afternoon’s coaching roulette? In whose favor will the wheel of fortune spin?

Richt did his best to talk up his overrated opponent this week on ESPN’s College Football Live. I believe he referred to LSU as a “talented team” that’s done the “best recruiting in the last four or five years.” Even the analysts on set questioned Richt’s assessment. Talented? Usually teams that have their conference’s worst offense and a defense that’s not too far out of the cellar don’t get called talented.
